Why Do I Get Morning Sickness?

When you are facing morning sickness, you may be wondering why this is happenning to you. You may be feeling tired and just plain awful most of the time. You may get sick at your stomach when you look at food. Most don't have anything to worry about. They may get up in the morning, feel sick for a few minutes and then be over it as quick as it came. But like everyone with morning sickness, they may wonder why it happens.

One thing about morning sickness that is certain is that it is not the same for everyone. Also, the causes of morning sickness are not the same for every person. Unfortunately, there is not enough evidence to list why women suffer from morning sickness each day. Although there are several key elements that is known.

Common Causes (Or So We Think)

There are several reasons that is believed to cause morning sickness.

Too much estrogen. While you are pregnant, your estrogen level can increase at least 100 times it's normal amount. Scientists believe that this may be the cause of morning sickness.

Too many acids in the body. Another reason that scientists feel may be the cause of morning sickness is having too many acids in the body. Since your body has more progesterone in it, you may experience morning sickness. Progesterone relaxes the muscles in your uterus so your body won't deliver the baby eariler than needed. Although this increase relaxes your uterus, it also relaxes your stomach and intestines and allows acid to build up.

Odors can cause morning sickness. Since your senses are heightened during pregnancy, odors may become to strong to bear. Therefore, it may make you sick at your stomach.

Blood Sugar. When your blood sugar gets too low, you may feel nauseous and even dizzy. This can even occur when your not pregnant.

As you can see, there is a lot of reasons why morning sickness occurs. Mostly it is because of the changes your body faces when you are pregnant. Pregnancy is a wonderful thing but can cause your body to go through a variety of ups and downs. But in the end, it is worth it – especially when you see your little baby for the first time.

The aches and pains that you experience during your pregnancy will be completely worth it once you see your child for the first time. You will be able to remember back to how you felt while having morning sickness and think “It wasn't that bad”.

So what might cause morning sickness for you? Unfortunatly, it is hard to tell. As usual, if you feel like your morning sickness is extreme, be sure to consult your doctor. He or she would be glad to assist in pin-pointing the cause and coming up with a solution to help ease the discomfort of your morning sickness.
